As We Exist

Poetry

As we exist
words spill into my head.
I was always bad at being without words –
Even now, when there is no time, no space,
and we are tangled together like wires, the words don’t stop –
My brain exploding with fireworks of consonants and vowels,
transforming into metaphors,
living and breathing in my mind.

I know that your head is different.
Just raw, blank instinct.
Completely here,
and nowhere but now,
my opposite.
Always.
